Lynn Ellen Doxon began gardening at the age of 2. She specialized in sunflowers until, at the age of 8 she branched out into her own "secret garden" behind the family barn. (It wasn't really a secret. By midsummer the morning glories she had planted at the base of a s=dead peach tree had grown into the most spectacular morning glory tree that the whole neighborhood came to see it.)
In her twenties she farmed 240 acres of land, part of which had been homesteaded by her great, great aunt. In addition to wheat and alfalfa she had a large pick your own tomato plot.
In her thirties she returned to school and earned an MS in horticultural Therapy then a PhD in horticulture, specializing in Farming Systems.
She worked as the Urban Horticulture Specialist for the New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service, traveling across the state to teach people about gardening, lawns, trees and water conservation. She was instrumental in bringing Xeriscape to New Mexico and helped develop the Albuquerque Botanic Garden, on of the ten best in the US.
After retirement, she and her husband developed an urban food forest on their city lot and established Lynn's Earth/Garden Academy.
Lynn's daughter Lydia is her partner in the business. She helps keep the garden watered and healthy, is behind the camera when Lynn films videos and works on course production, She also works with social media.
Lynn's husband, Robert Habiger, an architect and photographer, works with her in the business. He provides photographs, garden plans and acts as the aesthetic arbitor of our products.
